MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS UNIT

Objective
To provide expertise and services on application of ICT to the Ministry.
The Unit will perform the following activities:-

• Implementation of IT and e-government policy
• Develop and Coordinate Integrated Management Information System for the Ministry
• Ensure that hardware and software are well maintained
• Coordinate and provide support on procurement
  purchase of software and hardware in the Ministry
• Establish and Coordinate use of Electronic mail communications on LAN and WAN
• Carryout studies and propose areas of using IT as an instrument to improve service delivery to the whole Ministry.
• Develop, update and maintain Ministerial internet/ intranet website
• Develop, update and maintain Ministerial Internet/ intranet website
• Ensure efficient operations of the installed information systems through the implementation of adequate and systematic operating, backup, security and other necessary systems and procedures.
• Identify and develop applications systems relevant to the daily activities of the Ministry.
• Train personnel on the use of the MIS systems
• Provide advice to departments on appropriate hardware and software specifications for procurement.
• Install and coordinate data entry to populate databases, including TSED, with agricultural related data.
