This is cashew improvement project for Eastern and Southern
African countries of Tanzania, Mozambique, Kenya, Malawi,
Madagascar, Uganda and Ethiopia.
The aim is to address major cashew production constraints in the
region through a number of interventions. These include the
regional evaluation of a range of germplasm and releasing a
small number of selected clones to be multiplied at nurseries
established by the project and sold to farmers.
The project is funded by Common Fund for Commodities (CFC),
supervised by Intergovernmental Group on Bananas and Tropical
Fruits (FAO). It is coordinated by
Naliendele Agricultural Research Institute of Tanzania.
