A THREE-DAY WORKSHOP TO REVIEW TFSRP PERFORMANCE
The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the World Bank, conducted a three-day workshop in Arusha from 15 to 17 September 2025. The purpose of the workshop is to review the five-year program of the Tanzania Food Systems Resilience Program – TFSRP, sharing insights and progress made in its implementation from both the Mainland and Zanzibar.
The workshop engaged participants from the Ministries of Agriculture, Ministries of Livestock and Fisheries, and other pertinent institutions within the sector. It also includes representatives from higher learning institutions, regulatory bodies, particularly those involved with seeds and produce, as well as financial institutions.
Participants took part in vibrant discussions and presentations that covered an overview of the 2050 Agriculture Master Plan(AMP); the Zanzibar Agriculture Transformation Plan; the application of technologies; extension services; digital integration; the production and distribution of certified seeds to boost productivity; fertilizer subsidy programs; irrigation schemes and other governmental priorities related to theimplementation of the Agriculture Master Plan for both Mainland and Zanzibar.
The discussion also focused on strategies to improve the effectiveness of the TFSRP program, ensuring that its budget of over USD 300 million benefits small-scale farmers, increase productivity through climate-resilient agricultural technologies, enhances extension services, manages post-harvest losses, and more.
Regarding the seminar and program overview, TFSRP Project Coordinator Mr. Timothy Semuguruka stated that this reflection workshop aims to assess the success of activities conducted over the past two years of implementation, while also highlighting areas of weakness to allow experts to develop alternative strategies for this year's implementation.
The three-day workshop is designed to also align with the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget vision for the year 2025/2026 regarding the irrigation schemes, seed multiplication, researchand development, extension services, mechanization services, and others.
