Hon. Daniel Chongolo (MP), the Minister for Agriculture, convened with Mr. Seth Meng, the IFAD Country Director for Tanzania, on the margins of the Africa Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (ACSAM), which is being held from 3-6 February 2026 at the Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam. 

The two officials reached an agreement to continue addressing challenges facing the agriculture sector through the financing of development projects, with IFAD committing over USD 200 million. These funds will be allocated to crop development, including the establishment of irrigation infrastructure for seed farms, aimed at improving the production and productivity of selected value chains. 

Furthermore, the Honourable Minister appreciated the ongoing support provided by IFAD and expressed his commitment to continue working together in transforming the agricultural sector.
