TANZANIA - NORWAY PARTNER FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Gerald Mweli held talks with H.E. Ambassador Tone Tinnes of the Kingdom Government of Norway to Tanzania, at his office in Dodoma on 23rd September 2025.
The two leaders discussed the progress made on agreed areas of cooperation pertaining to the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries, which aim to enhance production and productivity in agriculture sector in line with climate change.
Discussions also highlighted the progress on the establishment of other 3 corridors that will support the coordination of the key crops value chain as highlighted in the Agriculture Master Plan 2050 (AMP 2050) under the supervision of the Tanzania Agriculture Transformation Office (ATO).
For matter of consistency in coordination, the two leaders further discussed on how better to establish other 3 corridors under the leadership of ATO with the cooperation of Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (AGCOT) and AGRA with the consideration of public–private partnership model as stipulated in Blueprint to fully unlocking the Tanzania’s agriculture sector potentials.
The two leaders concluded by agreeing on the importance of engaging the Private Sector onboard to ensure sustainable development in the Agricultural Sector, poverty eradication and food security.
