TANZANIA WELCOMES INVESTORS IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR

Tanzania’s investment day drew a large interest from the participants of the African Food Systems Forum 2025 as investment prospects in sectors such as agriculture, livestock and fisheries were showcased on 4th of September 2025 in Dakar, Senegal.

In a presentation regarding the opportunities within the agricultural sector, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Crops Development and Food Security in Tanzania’s Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Stephen J. Nindi stated that Tanzania has steadfastly transformed the sector in efforts to empower small-scale farmers while also engaging youth and women in agribusiness activities. 

He outlined Tanzania’s  Agricultural Master Plan (AMP) as a comprehensive roadmap aimed at transforming sustainable food systems in the country by the year 2050, while also highlighting essential priorities and investment opportunities in various areas such as reduce edible oil imports, mechanization, irrigation infrastructure, wheat production, storage facilities, as well as support on programs focused on youth and women. 

Dr. Nindi urged the participants to invest in Tanzania’s agricultural sector, emphasizing the strides that the Government has achieved in supporting farmers through stabilized crop prices and access to market using a transparent purchasing systems established by the Tanzania Mercantile Exchange (TMX).  

He further noted the country’s policy measures through agricultural initiatives that has enhanced food security in Tanzania and further boosted crop production for international markets.

Regarding the youth-focused Build a Better Tomorrow (BBT) program, Dr. Nindi elaborated that it has demonstrated significant outcomes, providing youth and women with agricultural skills, as well as business and economic resources to facilitate transformation at the grassroots level. 

The African Food Systems Forum 2025 has brought together Heads of State from multiple countries, along with Ministers, investors, business leaders, private and public sectors, amounting to more than 6000 attendees.
